WhatsApp: How to use the same account on two different Android phones

Hello folks! As of today, the most common thing is that some phones allow you to use two WhatsApp accounts on the same phone. They achieve this by duplicating the WhatsApp app. What if your goal is to do the opposite? That is, to use the same WhatsApp account on two different Android devices. It is also possible, even though WhatsApp does not yet officially support it. So while we wait for it shortly. The arrival of the new WhatsApp multi-device mode will allow us to use the same account on multiple phones and tablets, as it is possible in Telegram natively. For now, the alternative you can use is WhatsApp Web. It is not perfect, but it is very easy and you avoid using third-party applications, with the security problems that can bring. That’s why in this post, we’ll show you how to use the same WhatsApp account on two different Android phones.

Your WhatsApp account on two different phones

Currently, you can only use WhatsApp on one phone at a time, whether we like it or not. The only option is to use WhatsApp for PC or WhatsApp Web, but neither of these tools is focused on mobile devices. WhatsApp’s new multi-device mode doesn’t require the phone to be on and connected. It has led us, users, to believe that perhaps in the future the app will enable using our account on more than one phone. In the new beta, it allows you to connect four devices, but only one phone. What you can do is use WhatsApp Web on your second phone.

First step

Open WhatsApp and tap the three dots in the top right corner to see the options. Then click on “Linked devices”

click on "Linked devices"
click on “Linked devices”

Second step

Then tap on “Link a device”. It will ask you to unlock the screen by fingerprint or face unlock.

After that, on your secondary phone go to web.whatsapp.com. Remember that for it to work properly you must have the “Desktop site” option enabled in the browser.

Fourth step

Then go back to your primary phone and scan the QR code displayed on the second phone. You will be logged in, effectively having WhatsApp on two phones. With the new multi-device mode, you can also use WhatsApp on this second phone when the other one is turned off, which is a nice addition.

Add a shortcut

If you want to have quicker access to WhatsApp on this second phone you can add a shortcut to your phone’s home screen, to open it with a tap. WhatsApp Web is not designed to be used on the small screens of a phone, so it can be a little uncomfortable to use on the phone, although you will have no problem using it on a tablet as they have larger screens.

First step

On your second phone, click on the three dots located in the upper corner of the screen to see the browser options. Then click on “Add to home screen”

Second step

Finally, click on “Add”

On a phone, a good idea is to use it with the screen in landscape, this way you can see the whole interface without having to scroll in all directions. You can also pair a physical keyboard to type more comfortably.

Conclusion

The ability to use WhatsApp Web to have WhatsApp on a second phone is a very interesting trick for emergencies, although it must be admitted that it does not give the same experience as using WhatsApp in its native application for obvious reasons. We continue to hope that in the future WhatsApp will allow us to use your account on multiple phones officially. Thanks for reading us. Bye!
