How to remap a keyboard in Windows 10

Greetings! The keyboard is an essential element in any operating system. In fact, the Microsoft operating system has changed a lot over time. But the keyboard with its QWERTY configuration has remained unchanged. Consequently, the keys and combinations have not changed. And while many users are comfortable with the layout, others are not. How to remap the keyboard in Windows 10 with SharpKeys

As mentioned, there are several options to modify the keyboard. However, today we will use SharpKeys. This is an open source project that can be downloaded from here. Additionally, it is recommended to download the ZIP version. Additionally, it is recommended to download the ZIP version. As you can see in the image, it is imperative to have the .NET Framework 4.0 installed

Once you have downloaded the file, please unzip it at any location. Then run the file SharpKeys.exe. Its operation is very simple. Once the program is displayed, you will see a couple of columns: From and To. To start the process, please click on Add.

Immediately two practically identical columns will be displayed. Both columns show a list of available keys. But the difference is that on the left the current function is shown. And on the right is a list of potential functions. The operation is very simple. Just search in the list on the left, the key you want to modify. Then assign your new role in the list on the right. Please note that if you select Turn Key Off, then the key will not do anything when pressed.

Adding the keys

As you can see, we have reconfigured the Esc key. With the change, it will now work as F1. Also, you can add as many keys as you want. If you are sure of the change, just press Write to registry.
