How to get ChatGPT AI on Android using Microsoft Edge

Hello friends! The Edge browser received a toolbar redesign that provides direct access to Bing Chat, an AI-based on ChatGPT. Currently, there is no official ChatGPT app for Android. Luckily there are no alternatives to take advantage of this artificial intelligence. The easiest way until now was to open a web browser and go to Bing Chat. Bing Chat is a chatbot based on the same GPT-4 that ChatGPT uses. Now, with the new changes in the Edge browser, you can quickly access this AI from anywhere with the push of a button. In this post, we’ll show you how to get ChatGPT AI on Android using Edge. To activate it on your device, only a few steps are necessary.

Try the new Bing Chat

One of the things to take into account is that you have to use the Microsoft Edge browser, which makes sense. The company has invested heavily to get exclusive access to GPT-4 in its apps, and that could be a good reason to switch browsers. If you already have Edge installed, be sure to upgrade to the latest version, or this tutorial won’t work.

First step

Download and install the Microsoft Edge browser in its Android version by following the link below:

Then once installed, open a new Edge tab and enter the following URL: “edge://flags” without the quotes.

You will be redirected to a hidden settings page that all browsers based on Chromium, the open-source version of Chrome, have. It’s not recommended to touch anything here that you don’t know what it does, as you might misconfigure something, which will mess up the user experience.

Third step

After that, simply search for “Bing” in the search bar.

Then slide down until you see the “Always show new Bing in the toolbar” option. Next, click on the button that says “Default” and change it to the “Enabled” option.

Sixth step

After you have opened Edge again, go to Settings, and under account sign in with your Microsoft account, if you don’t have one you can also create one. You need to have a linked account to be able to access the new Bing chat.

Seventh step

When you go back to Edge home, you will see a new Bing Chat button in the middle of the toolbar at the bottom of the app. From here you can open the chatbot at any time without having to leave the page you are visiting.

Then when you click this button, Bing Chat appears as a pop-up window and the interface is identical to the web page. We can ask the AI questions and change the conversation style depending on how we want it to talk to us. The big advantage of this method is that we can use the microphone instead of typing the question.

This is by far the easiest way to use the same GPT-4 that ChatGPT uses on Android and, more importantly, the only official way; While there are Android apps that promise access to ChatGPT, none of them are made by OpenAI or Microsoft, and only serve as intermediaries for the official website. The advantage is that is integrated with Bing allows you to get more current AI-powered information. Thanks for reading us. Bye bye!
