Greetings dear friends, recently WhatsApp incorporated its storage manager to free up space. In it, you can check the space occupied by photos and videos, although this feature does not include all the data saved by the application, such as backups, profile pictures, statuses. Therefore, in this post, we will show you how to access WhatsApp files using a file manager. This way you will have more control over all the data stored by the app on your device.
First step
Open your file manager. In case you need to install it you can follow the link below:
Google Play | File Manager by Xiaomi: Explore your file easily.
Second step
Next, locate the path if your device has a version lower than Android 10, it will be:
Android/media/com.whatsapp/whatsapp
On devices with Android 10 and above, it will be enough to go to the root of your device and you will see the WhatsApp folder because until these new versions the WhatsApp folder was not saved inside the Android folder.
Third step
After this, you will see the following 3 folders:
- Backups
- Media
- Databases
In the “Backups” folder, you will find the local copy of the backup. I recommend you to be careful with this folder as this is where the backup of your chats and account information is stored. In case it cannot be restored from the cloud WhatsApp will try to use this local copy to restore your chats. Be careful not to delete it by accident.
Next, select the Media folder. In this folder, you will find all the files that WhatsApp stores such as:
- Wallpapers
- Animated GIFs
- Audios
- Documents
- Images
- Profile images
- Stickers
- Videos
- Voice notes
Fourth step
Next, you will be able to (delete, copy, move, etc.) any WhatsApp file through the phone’s file manager.
Conclusion
Knowing how to access WhatsApp files is useful when it comes to helping you free up space, as you will be able to see firsthand which files are taking up the most space on your phone and be able to delete them all at once. Thanks for reading, bye!
