As a result, this Android app allows you to detect network problems and improve network performance. Therefore, it will be very useful for network administrators. On the other hand, IP Tools has a very nice and simple interface that quickly displays the network information. In fact, it is possible to find out the internal or external IP, as well as other configurations. Anyway, let’s see how to analyze the network with IP Tools for Android.
How to download IP Tools
As mentioned, this is an app for mobile devices. So it is available for the most popular systems: iOS and Android. The installation process is very simple and you only need to wait a moment while the system performs the task.
IP Tools Basic Functions
When you open the program, you will see a screen like the one below:,
If you click on the share button then the info about the current public IP will be copied. Therefore, it can be shared via WhatsApp or by email. See the screenshot below for the available options.
Clicking on the options’ menu displays the tools available for use. The first IP option is shown in the previous paragraph.
The Whois tool allows you to determine who an IP belongs to. In this opportunity, we will use the value 8.8.8.8 which belongs to a Google DNS server.
Next, we will test the Ping tool that will measure in ms the response time of an IP. For this example, I will use the IP address of my router that has responded to the ping is less than 4 milliseconds.
A very interesting tool is Traceroute. It allows you to track the packets coming from a host. Additionally, it provides network latency statistics of the packets. Consequently, it is possible to estimate the distance to the sender of the communication. This time, I will use the IP of a computer on my local network. For that reason, only one component appears. However, if we used a public IP, it would show the route of the servers and equipment through which this information is passing.
Now it’s the turn of the WiFi analyzer. This tool shows the details of the nearby networks and the currently connected one. In addition, it provides the SSID, BSSID, signal percentage, channel, encryption used, and more.
Scanning tools
Another tool is the Port Scanner. Its operation is very simple, as you only need to enter the IP of the router to display the available ports.
Finally, we’ll see about using Lan Scanner. This element of the app allows us to visualize all the devices connected to the local network. All you have to do is enter the router’s gateway.
